By Matt Potter, Potter Contracting
While doing a new roof for a customer in Doylestown, we found several things wrong with the house that had to be addressed before we could even finish the roof.
We discovered that the entire corner of the house had been leaking for so long that not only was the plywood roof decking rotted, but so was everything beneath it! This included the rafters, the header, the studs, all the way to the foundation, the bandboard and the sill plate.
After securing the house, we were able to make all the needed repairs which included all the new framing, insulation and sheathing. We were able to re-use all the existing siding and make the house look brand new again.
We also discovered that the chimney was in need of repair as well!
This is why hiring a general contractor who does everything versus hiring just a roofing contractor is a good idea.
